This post is made both in memory, and in celebration of Richard Tucker, MD, of Wenatchee, WA who died on May 26, 2007 after critical injuries in an MVA involving a driver under the influence. I had the great pleasure of working with him at the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center for three weeks in his Infectious Disease clinic. His influence in this community and beyond was substantial, and he will be sorely missed.One of my favorite parts of working with him was helping out in the wound clinic he helped coordinate with the help of some very capable wound therapists in the physical therapy building. One day during the week before he died, a group of us began brainstorming how we could send off one of the physical therapists who will be leaving soon for additional training through the Medex P.A. program at UW. We decided that it would be fun to build a "Wound Cake" which could (through frosting and sprinkles, etc.) depict all the fun we had in clinic. I had offered at the time to try my hand at this creation...and tonight I finally had the chance. See below. A tribute to the hilarity, greatness, and creativity that was Dr. Tucker!
