Most Common Interview Comment

Okay, so I'm almost halfway done with my 14 residency interviews already, and I'm sensing a theme in the way my application strikes people. They all want to know about the two measley poems I published in college. I keep meaning to bring a copy of them for their review, but forget!!

So here's the second one, which I like best. It's funny that when I wrote this, it was prior to the advent of my salsa dancing obsession. I have been obsessed with dance in one form or another for longer than I let on!

2.
dancer, leggy lover of movement,
flowing waves of rippling flesh
so smooth
what moves you to love me
in my jerky gestures
and awkward glances

but you: silkily you caress and smooth a furrowed brow
the healing touch!

you, swirling like mist near
the foothills
soothing, intoxicating

your gooey sweet flavor
voids my metallic taste of machinery
and erases mechanical movement

until I too dance like a breeze
float in the wind
folding myself around

your whispers

Nice poem. It's refreshing that interviews focus now on being a human. Hope you go where you want.
